Lottery Preferences (Sibling & Zip Code)

Preferences in the lottery are given to children of Uplift staff, siblings of current scholars, and certain zip codes near each school. A preference improves your odds but does not guarantee enrollment, and applies only when the application is received before the lottery deadline.

Sibling preference — currently enrolled student

  • An applicant with a sibling currently attending Uplift must still apply.
  • The applying child receives a lottery preference because of the enrolled sibling, but admittance is not guaranteed.
  • The preference applies only at the same school the sibling attends.
  • Sibling status is verified via school records before the lottery. The current sibling must be enrolled at the time of the lottery, and generally must have attended Uplift for at least one school year.

Sibling preference — new applicant siblings

  • New applicant siblings receive a preference if one family sibling is admitted in the lottery.
  • The preference applies only at the school where the first sibling is admitted.
  • It is administered only after that first sibling's registration is completed, and offers depend on open seats.

Zip code preference

Specific zip codes surrounding each school receive a preference in that school's lottery. Anyone within the geographic boundaries may apply, but applicants in the listed zip codes receive preference for that campus.
