Admissions & Application FAQs

How much does it cost to attend Uplift?

Like any public school, Uplift is free to attend. There is also no fee to apply.

What is required for an application to be considered complete?

Only basic information: parent/guardian names and contact details, and the student's name, date of birth, and grade applied for. It takes about five minutes.

Do I need to provide my immigration status?

No. Texas state law prohibits us from asking about immigration status.

Do I need a DFW address to apply?

Yes. You must live within an Uplift school's geographic boundaries, which are in the Dallas–Fort Worth area.

When can I apply?

Applications open in mid-October for the following school year and are accepted throughout the year.

Can I apply to more than one school?

Yes — you can list up to three Uplift schools on one application and set a priority order.

What if I want to apply for more than one child?

Complete a separate application for each child. You'll use the same account for all of them and can view every child's information in one place.

Can I submit more than one application for my child to the same school?

No. Only one application per child, per school year is allowed. Our system detects duplicates — even with different emails — and cancels them. (You may still list up to three different schools on the one application.)

If I apply for more than one child and one gets a spot, do all siblings get a spot?

Admission is based on the lottery and open seats. Siblings of enrolled and newly enrolled students receive a lottery preference, and even without an immediate seat a sibling application goes to the top of the waitlist. Because our waitlist moves quickly, we strongly encourage you to accept the child drawn in the lottery so the sibling preference can apply.

How can I check my application status?

Log in to your SchoolMint account. After the lottery (first week of February), you'll be notified by email and text whether your child was offered a spot or placed on the waitlist, and you can view your status anytime. Your waitlist position appears a few weeks after the initial notification.

How does Uplift decide who gets offered a spot?

A random, name-blind lottery selects applicants for open spots at each school and grade. There are no exams or interviews.

What happens if my child is drawn in the lottery?

You'll get an email offering a spot. Follow the directions to accept within about two weeks, then complete enrollment in SchoolMint. Your child is not fully enrolled until registration is complete.

Why did my application get canceled?

The most common reasons are: (1) more than one application was submitted for the same child, or (2) a spot was offered but you didn't accept and complete registration before the deadline.

Why are some grades not offered for all schools?

Either the school doesn't serve that grade (some campuses end at 5th grade and feed into a partner middle and high school), the school is newer and hasn't added all grades yet, or the school doesn't offer PreK.

If my child turns 5 after September, can they start kindergarten?

No. Scholars must be 5 before September 1.
