About Uplift PreK & Eligibility

Uplift offers a state-funded PreK program. The Texas legislature sets eligibility requirements for free public prekindergarten, so being drawn in the lottery is an opportunity to determine whether your family qualifies.

Age

  • Uplift accepts applications for 3- and 4-year-olds.
  • Eligibility preference is given to children who are 4 years old as of September 1.
  • Children who are 3½ years old on or before September 1 may also apply.

Qualifying indicators

Applicants must meet at least one of the following (verification required in all cases):

  • Is unable to speak or comprehend English, or
  • Qualifies for the free or reduced-price lunch program, or
  • Is homeless, or
  • Is the child of an active-duty military parent, or
  • Is in foster care, or
  • Is the child of a Star of Texas Award recipient.

Eligibility process

The school will contact you to set up an eligibility meeting. Bring your qualifying eligibility documents. If you do not qualify for free PreK, your child cannot be admitted to the PreK program.

All Uplift PreK programs are full day.
